Adult Community Keelboat Classes
College of Charleston Sailing offers non-credit, adult keelboat classes from May through August. These courses are designed to provide hands-on, practical sailing experience for beginners and those looking to build confidence on the water.
Course Format
Each class runs for three weeks and includes:
– 15 hours of on-the-water instruction
– Two classroom sessions (2 hours each)
– Maximum of 18 students (3 students per boat for optimal hands-on learning)
– Textbook included to support your learning and reinforce sailing concepts
PRICING – $595/student

– Monday: Classroom lecture
– Tuesday & Thursday: On-the-water sailing sessions
Weekend Classes
– Friday: Classroom lecture
– Saturday & Sunday: On-the-water sailing sessions

What boats will be used?
All instruction takes place on J/22 sailboats — safe, stable, and responsive 22-foot keelboats.
Because they are keelboats, they are more stable and do not capsize, making them ideal for new sailors.
What You’ll Learn
By the end of the course, students will have the skills and confidence needed to independently skipper a 22-foot sailboat.

If you are unable to attend the session after registering, please let us know as soon as possible. A full refund will be issued if cancellation is requested 14 days prior to the session start date. Cancellation within 14 days will result in a $100 fee. There is no fee associated with transferring to a different session.
