OFFSHORE TEAM
THE TEAM
The College of Charleston Offshore Sailing Program provides student-athletes with the opportunity to train and compete at a high level aboard four competitive offshore boats: two J/105s, Zephyr and Prowler; the J/36 Soul; and the Antrim 40 XL.
As a varsity program, Offshore Sailing is treated like any other varsity team at the College. Student-athletes participate in mandatory team workouts, practices, competitions, and other responsibilities expected of varsity athletes, including maintaining a strong academic record. Sailors are expected to compete year-round, with racing and training opportunities throughout both the fall and spring seasons.
Offshore sailors also have access to the resources and benefits available to College of Charleston varsity athletes, including preferred class registration, academic support through the Athletic Department, access to personal trainers for fitness and injury prevention, and a well-funded travel and training program.
The program provides student-athletes with the opportunity to develop their skills in a variety of offshore racing formats while competing against some of the top collegiate and offshore sailing programs in the country.
If you are interested in learning more about the College of Charleston Offshore Sailing Program or would like to arrange a visit, please contact Offshore Coach Ned Goss. Prospective sailors are encouraged to include a sailing résumé with their initial correspondence.
